Anglian Water extends its bill payment network

Customers of Anglian Water, one of the country’s leading providers of water and wastewater services, will find it easier to pay their bills after the company extended its payment network with the inclusion of 17,000 Payzone outlets.

Anglian, which includes Hartlepool Water, has agreed a new contract with Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank that will enable its 2.5 million customers to pay bar-coded bills or make regular instalments free of charge using booklets and plastic cards at Payzone retailers across the UK.

Martyn Oakley, Customer Service Director of Anglian Water and Hartlepool Water, said: “We want to offer our customers more choice and a convenient solution for paying their bills at a time and place that suits them. The new service will be free for all our customers who prefer to pay in person while visiting their local Payzone convenience store.”

This extended payment network was made possible by a partnership formed by Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank and Payzone in 2007. More than 1,500 organisations currently use Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank payment services to collect payments from their customers, including most of the major utility companies. Last year the Bank handled 125 million bill payment transactions.

Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank’s bill payment network is the largest of any bank in the UK and offers consumers access to more than 29,000 outlets through Payzone and Post Office™ branches.
